Join Eat for Impact

Restaurants ⚘ Local Businesses

The Eat for Impact initiative is all about bringing the community together to enjoy great food while making a positive impact on the planet.

This initiative is made possible through a partnership with cities, local organizations, small businesses, restaurants, and passionate citizens.

We would love for you to join your city’s initiative.

Here’s How it Works:

As a restaurant partner of Eat for Impact, you will…

Create at least 2 new fully plant-based menu items for the month of the initiative.

These will be promoted through local ads and partnerships with groups in your city.

Each customer who orders these specials will be asked to take a survey about their meal.

At the end of the initiative, we will calculate the total greenhouse gas emissions saved through your participation and present an impact report to the city.

  • Plant-based food is the most climate-friendly option. As researchers, we know there are many ways to make food more sustainable, but to keep things simple and eliminate any guesswork for diners, we require that all Eat for Impact dishes are fully plant-based. This ensures clarity, consistency, and maximum impact.

  • It’s completely free for all partners to participate. These dishes are sold just like those on your regular menu - we don’t require any percentage of sales or payment - ever.

  • No. We require that the dishes are a brand new option. This ensures that customers will be more curious to try them.

  • We require the following:

    • At least 2 new plant-based dishes on the menu, available for purchase every day that you are open during the month of the initiative.

    • These specials will be openly available to all customers (no one should ever have to ask to see it). For most restaurant styles, we require the use of a hand-held menu. Eat for Impact designs and prints these menus for your use. There are exceptions only for specific cases. Please ask.

    • We require that every customer who orders one of these specials is given a small card with a QR code to take a short survey about their meal. We provide these cards.

    • At the end of the initiative, we require that every restaurant partner submits a short survey about their experience and sales outcomes. This information is used to determine climate impact and all data is aggregated to protect the privacy of each restaurant partner. No one will know your sales information.

    • Eat for Impact requires that dishes are not named using overtly “vegan” or “plant-based” language. We will help with this.
